Where can I find an ARC Programmer?
1 point by jtodd 5416 days ago | 2 comments
I'm a stone cold newbie to programming, so I apologize from the start. After reading Hackers and Painter I found my way here. Very clear and entertaining writing by PG. I'm in the education field and am looking at making a "learning exercise", currently given by paper and pencil available online. It's a very simple exercise that contains a "key of 6 symbols matched to the numbers 1-6. The student study the key for 1 minute and then have a series of 1 minute trials to fill in the blanks below random rows of the symbols doing there best to match the key.

Where might I find someone to help program this?

Right here. :)

However, being mostly language designers and/or people with day jobs and school to attend to, we're rather hesitant to write an entire application for you. Rather, usually we walk people through writing it themselves. If you can outline your problem more precisely, and then mention specifically you need help with, we're much more likely to help you.

So, what exactly is it that you want? Are you trying to get a computer application that you can use with your students? While we could help you, it's possible that having it written in arc isn't the best option.

Are you trying to learn to program with arc, and want to use this as a learning exercises? Great! We'd love to help you. Unfortunately, I'm not entirely sure what the application is supposed to do.

A little more information can go a long way towards helping us help you get what you want.

Thanks shader for the imput. I am interested in learning arc along with completing this learning exercise. I see your point that arc may not be best for this application. I will follow your advice and prepare more precise questions.
